VMD buys rights to sell CliC Eyewear

VMD Eyewear has purchased the Australian distribution rights to CliC Eyewear products and began managing the brand as of November 1.

Known as the “magnetic connection eyewear”, CliC Eyewear was introduced to the Australian market in 2003. The glasses have two key features – a continuous neck-strap and a magnetic connection at the nose bridge. The glasses can be separated at the bridge and then hung around the neck.

The design aims to prevent issues with losing, dropping, breaking, scratching and constantly replacing eyewear.

Ms Helen Najar brought the product to Australia in 2003, introducing a website that was eventually rebuilt five times to create a fully integrated online service and information hub for retailers, wholesalers and end users.

Before selling the distribution rights to VMD, the company supplied more than 700 retailers and independent optometrists in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Maritius, Cook Islands, Vanuatu and other regions in the South Pacific.

“We are excited to be handing over to VMD Eyewear. Their 35 years of industry experience and vast network of representatives on the ground in Australia and New Zealand will ensure continued exposure, more face-to-face customer support and inevitable growth for the brand,” Najar said.

The acquisition is the second major move from VMD in recent months, after the company also took over the Australian distribution of Fleye Cophenhagen in September.

VMD has warehousing, operational facilities and sales departments operating in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, along with distributors in more than 20 countries.

CliC Eyewear is distributed in more than 27 countries internationally, carries manufacturers’ patents in 11 countries globally, and is CE certified.
