Optic nerve head update for CIRRUS HD-OCT 5000

Zeiss has just released its latest glaucoma application, the AngioPlex OCT angiography update for the optic nerve head on the CIRRUS HD-OCT 5000.

AngioPlex has offered non-invasive visualisation of the retinal vasculature since its release in 2015, however this has now been extended to the optic nerve head to allow for evaluation of both the disease process and the progression of glaucoma patients.

The module gives insight into an area that is somewhat unexplored in daily practice, due to it being traditionally difficult to image with fluorescein angiography. The optimised scan for the optic nerve head allows qualitative and quantitative analysis of the perfusion and flow intensity within radial peripapillary capillaries within seconds.

Combined with RNFL thickness on the same report, the update offers clinicians important new information to combat the ever-increasing glaucoma patient volume, while maintaining high levels of care for their patients.
